Fighting For Us

Message from Amanda

Thank you for visiting my website.

As your local Federal Member of Parliament it is my job to advocate on your behalf. I will continue to stand up for you and your family, locally and in Canberra.

I am proud to work with you and fight for what is important to our community.

I want our local schools to be amongst the best in the world. I will fight hard to ensure much needed school funding is not ripped from our schools and universities. Our education system needs more funding, but a cut of $30 billion from our schools and $100,000 university degrees.

Abolishing penality rates for workers is again on the Liberal Government's agenda. Labor will fight against any move to scrap penalty rates for weekend and after-hours work.

Not only has the Turnbull Liberal Government scrapped Labor's superfast NBN, they have now failed to deliver on their promise of a second-rate NBN. Before the election the Liberals promised that under their inferior fibre-to-the-node plan all Australians would have access to download speeds of 25 megabits per second by 2016. They have now broken that promise. I will fight for Labor's NBN so that we can continue to rebuild our internet infrastructure. We must replace the old copper network with fibre to the home and business, delivering speeds of up to 100 megabits per second to everyone in our community.

I am also very honoured to serve as the Shadow Minister for Veterans' Affairs and Defence Personnel. As someone with a family member who has recently become a veteran after serving in the AAF, I understand how important this portfolio is. Our veterans, current serving personnel and their families deserve our respect, as well as world class care and support. I have been engaging with veterans, current serving personnel and ex-service organisations in the local community and across Australia, and I will continue to advocate on their behalf. To stay up to date with my Shadow Ministry work, please head to my portfolio media releases, opinion pieces and speeches in Parliament

I will continue to connect with residents and listen to the views of our community in 2017 through my regular street corner meetings, shopping centre visits and doorknocking. Please remember to visit the upcoming events page of this website for dates and locations of my regular shopping centre stalls and street corner meetings.

As always, please feel free to call my office on 08 8186 2588 if you feel I may be able to assist you in any way.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support. It is a privilege to represent Southern Adelaide and I look forward to continuing to work hard for our community.

Yours sincerely,
Rishworth sig blue
