SUBJECT/S: Closure of Walker Tenneco in Southern Adelaide
TONY PILKINGTON: Amanda good morning, nice to talk to you again after all these years. How are you?
AMANDA RISHWORTH, FEDERAL MEMBER FOR KINGSTON: Good morning Tony, lovely to be with you.
TONY: Now in your electorate there’s about 130 jobs to go, tell us about it.
AMANDA: It’s been a disappointing announcement on Friday that Tenneco Australia will close it’s Walker exhaust plant at O’Sullivan Beach. I guess the news, with the closure of Holden, was sort of expected. Although I know the company was working very hard to look at other options and to diversify, with the closure of Holden it was understood that this could be an option. But of course it’s very, very disappointing and devastating for those people losing their jobs and their families.
