Save the ABC!
The Liberal Government has launched the biggest attack on our ABC in a generation. Since being elected their cuts have resulted in 800 jobs lost, a number of services shut down and a reduction in Australian content.
This year alone they cut a further $84 million from the ABC, lined up three bills to meddle with the ABC Act and Charter, a faux 'competitive neutrality' inquiry and a further efficiency review.
Many residents in Southern Adelaide are part of the 17 million Australians who consume ABC content each week.
Some turn to the ABC to receive news and current affairs.
Some are families who access quality children's programs from the ABC - including of course Bananas in Pyjamas.
Some are young people who look forward to the Triple J Hottest 100 each year.
Some love the ABC for Australian drama and comedy, or for its coverage of local sport.
The ABC also plays a critical role in emergency situations, transmitting warnings about floods and fires.
There are countless reasons why the ABC is such an integral part of our national fabric, and that is why Labor has committed to reversing the $84 million cut and guaranteeing funding certainty for the ABC over their next budget cycle.
How much more damage will be done to the ABC if there is another term of the Liberal Government?
Join Amanda in standing up for the ABC and sending your support to our public broadcaster.
