LIBERALS’ UNFAIR CHILD CARE CHANGES LEAVING VULNERABLE CHILDREN OUT IN THE COLD - MONDAY, 15 APRIL 2019
The Liberals’ have been caught out trying to hide the impact their unfair child care changes are having on vulnerable Australian children.
The number of vulnerable and low-income families who are receiving the Additional Child Care Subsidy has fallen dramatically from 35,570 to 27,730 – more than a 20 per cent drop.
DAVID BEVAN: Likewise, with the Labor Party and at the last moment, somebody said, Amanda Rishworth, she will talk about this. She joins us now – she is the Labor MP for Kingston in the Southern Suburbs. Good morning Amanda Rishworth.
AMANDA RISHWORTH, SHADOW MINISTER FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT: Good morning, David.
Children’s imaginative play and social connections between parents will be nurtured with a $13,000 grant from Labor to enable the City of Campbelltown Toy Library to improve and expand their resources for local families in Sturt.
Last night Josh Frydenberg flat out lied to Australian families about the soaring price of child care under the Liberals.
It has been confirmed in Senate Estimates that Scott Morrison’s cruel cut to veterans is nothing more than an attempt to reduce staff and services to our veterans.
The Liberal’s Budget handed down a $171.6 million cut to DVA with no explanation from Scott Morrison, Josh Frydenberg or even the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Darren Chester.
SUBJECT/S: Income tax cuts, Scott Morrison failing Australian Children, the Liberals unfair child care system
TOM CONNELL: Joining me is my first guest of the day, Shadow Minister, Amanda Rishworth here in the studio. Thanks for your time.
AMANDA RISHWORTH, SHADOW MINISTER FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT: Great to be with you.
SUBJECT/S: Labor’s National Preschool and Kindy Program, Social Media laws, Labor’s commitment to a Voice in Parliament for our First Nation’s Peoples
AMANDA RISHWORTH, SHADOW MINISTER FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT: The government’s Budget has a cruel hoax in it for Australian families. That is the fact that it refuses to put in long term funding for four year old kindergarten and has no funding for three year old kindergarten. Now, their government has come up with a lot of excuses about why it can’t fund it but the truth of the matter is, they are not committed to Australian Children and their families.
Morrison’s Budget is a con job that has fooled nobody in the sector – they all know the Liberals aren’t serious about the education of our children and so does the rest of Australia.
SUBJECT/S: Veterans Mental Health, Veterans’ Employment, Veterans Homelessness, Labor’s commitment to develop a Family Engagement Strategy
STEVE PRICE: On Monday’s program I spoke with Martin Shaw, the voluntary CEO of wounded heroes. Now we have spoken to Martin a couple of times, I spoke to him when I was filling in for Alan Jones on breakfast, and I have spoken to him on the night programs around Australia. They are a national community organisation, they have been established to support Australian servicemen and women and their families. There are some dreadfully sad stories that they have to deal with. They are the only chairyt that provides immediate frontline support for veterans- particularly in Queensland and their families in times of financial crisis. Now, I am going to speak with the Federal Shadow Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, the Labor Member from South Australia, Amanda Rishworth, she has been kind enough to join us tonight. I just want to play for you and Amanda as well a little of what Martin said about one of his recent cases.
Scott Morrison’s failure to properly fund preschool is a cruel insult to Australian children.
This was an opportunity to properly invest in the future of our nation’s children – and Scott Morrison failed.
